Arberth Studios offers free 'Soundscape Sampler' Download

Currently making progress with 'Rhiannon: Beyond the Mabinogion', Wales-based independent adventure game developer Arberth Studios has included a free-to-download 'Soundscape Sampler' in the latest update to its Website.

The near nine-minute MP3 is available at http://www.arberthstudios.com. Game engineer Noel Bruton says "We included Internet gaming forums and visitors to our Website who gave us their Email address, in a poll we did recently about the sort of music adventure gamers want while they are playing horror games like 'Rhiannon'. We got a lot of very interesting replies. It seems that of course players want atmospheric, unsettling sound effects to match what they are seeing, but they also want some variety in the music."

Bruton continues, "'Rhiannon' is a complex game; while it is essentially a horror story, it also has human sub-plots. It's often spooky but it's also diversely saddening, intriguing and puzzling. The soundtrack has to reflect that complexity. Nevertheless, we're still working on it. So the sampler is a mix of tunes, atmospheric audio background and sound effects from where the 'Rhiannon' project is at this stage of its development." 
   
'Rhiannon: Beyond the Mabinogion' is due for release on DVD for PC in Winter 2007-2008.
